Sports 1 Marketing is a global sports and entertainment marketing agency that leverages the relationship capital that founders David Meltzer and Warren Moon built up over 38 years.

Since 2010, we have utilized our situational knowledge to be statistically successful in everything we do. We are able to bring the right people to our projects to attract more of the right people. This elevates the awareness and exposure of the project thereby allowing us to maximize its monetization in order to make a lot of money, help a lot of people, and have a lot of fun!

Sports 1 Marketing is a sports and entertainment marketing firm that leverages the relationship that founders David Meltzer and Warren Moon have built up over 36 years.

Warren Moon
WARREN MOON
President

Warren Moon is the President and Co-Founder of Sports 1 Marketing where he cultivates unique and lucrative business opportunities for corporate brands, elite athletes, and strategic partners.

Many only know Warren Moon as the NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback, but Warren is much more. Utilizing his fame and experiences to emphasize the importance of giving back, he created The Crescent Moon Foundation in 1989.  The foundation is dedicated to providing support for educational pursuits that will benefit children most in need who have displayed a commitment to their community, as well as other charitable causes surrounding under-privileged children.

In addition to his own foundation, Warren sits on several non-profit boards including the Rose Bowl Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

DAVID MELTZER
Chief Executive Officer

David Meltzer is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Sports 1 Marketing where he utilizes his relationship capital and situational knowledge to secure diverse business opportunities for all our clients and partners.

David has spent the last 25 years as an entrepreneur and executive in the legal, technology, and sports and entertainment fields with expertise across many industry verticals. David launched his career in sports at the world’s most notable sports agency, Leigh Steinberg Sports & Entertainment, serving as CEO, where along with Leigh and Warren, negotiated over $2 billion in sports and entertainment contracts.

David sits on numerous boards including JUST capital, OCTANE business incubator, Celebvidy, Rose Bowl Foundation, Transformational Leadership Council, Unstoppable Foundation, among several others.

Scott Carter
SCOTT CARTER
Executive VP

Scott Carter is the Co-Founder and Executive Vice President at Sports 1 Marketing. Scott is responsible for many business development projects, including Processing for a Cause.

After graduating law school, Scott began his career at Leigh Steinberg as a baseball agent and Director of Compliance. He graduated 15th in his class from Western State University College of Law, winning the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Honor while he was in Law school. Scott has also taught Sports Law at Concordia University, Irvine.

Derek Shaw
DEREK SHAW
Chief Operating Officer

Derek Shaw is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Sports 1 Marketing and oversees all day-to-day business operations at the firm.

He has spent over 13 years in the Consumer Package Goods Industry working for companies such as Johnson & Johnson (Neutrogena), Crabtree & Evelyn, Pulmuone Foods, Gallo Wine, and Pacific World Cosmetics. He has held a range of leadership positions within Brand Marketing, Trade Marketing, Sales, Sales Strategy, and Operations.

Jim Leyritz
JIM LEYRITZ
VP Player Development

Jim Leyritz is a former MLB catcher/infielder/designated hitter and World Series champion with the New York Yankees (1990–1996, 1999–2000). “The King” is best known for hitting numerous postseason, playoff and World Series home runs that either won, tied or changed the momentum of several series.

Jim is very active in the community and gives back much of his time and resources to many charitable organizations including Wounded Warriors, 911 Foundation, and the ALS Association which combats Lou Gehrig’s Disease (which Jim’s brother–in–law suffered from and ultimately lost his battle with). He is dedicated to all charities benefitting children and is proud to be a national spokesperson for Pinktie.org, a philanthropic organization based on Long Island. Jim is a proud member of Saddleback Church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He resides in Southern California with his wife Michelle and is a devoted father to his three sons and two step-daughters. Jim enjoys golfing, bowling, and playing basketball.
